Expert and Student Volunteers

Want to join Plan-It without competing?

We are looking for EXPERT and STUDENT volunteers.

Expert Volunteers

We are looking for experts in conservation, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship—leaders in academia, business, government, and philanthropy—to volunteer as mentors and judges during one or more of the time blocks listed above.

Mentors will guide student teams as they develop their projects, offering input based on their expertise. The earlier time blocks will likely focus on basic idea formation while the latter will focus on sharpening presentations ahead of judging.

Judges will listen to pitches and assign scores based on feasibility, impact, continuity, and business value. There will be two rounds of judging. The final three winners will win $10,000 in cash prizes.

As an expert volunteer, you will have access to:

  • The resumes of talented and ambitious undergraduate and graduate students

  • Our network of sponsors and other professionals in the above-mentioned fields

  • A meal for every time block you register for and an organic cotton t-shirt

Breakout Sessions

To enhance your organization’s presence at Plan-It Earth, there’s also the opportunity to lead a breakout session. We are in search of speakers who can lead sessions that deepen students' understanding of the competition tracks or help teams excel in a judging criteria area.

Please indicate your interest in leading a breakout when you register.
